The following are a list of hikes in the Mid-Atlantic states that I would like to do within the next year. If you would like to join me for any of them, please use the

Seneca Creek Greenway Trail between MD28 and the Potomac River near Darnestown, MD. 7 miles, easy to moderate, mostly downhill. This hike took place on 10/31/2023. You can read the trip log

Here.

Rivanna River Trail near Charlottesville, VA. 2.15 miles up, 2.15 miles back, easy. This trip took place on 11/14/2023. You can read the trip log

Here.

No date set yet- Biscuit Run Park near Charlottesville, VA. This is a new park that is supposed to open some time in fall, 2023. No info on trails yet but Google Maps shows a trail going from the 5th Street Trail Hub south to Lake Reynovia. This will probably be a recon. That is, anything could happen as it will be an exploratory trip.

No date set yet- Rivanna Loop Trail around Charlottesville, VA. I did 3.5 miles on this 20 mile loop trail in August, 2023. The trail log for that hike is

Here.

I wouldn’t mind doing a longer section. If there are two vehicles we could shuttle a vehicle to each end and avoid an up and back.

No date set yet- Trails west of I81 between US33 and US250, VA. This is a big area that lies between Harrisonburg, VA, Staunton, VA and the West Virginia border. There are many trails in this area that one could day hike or backpack. Probably rated moderate to difficult. Anyone interested?

Sometime in 2024- Reservoir Park at Beaverdam, Ashburn, VA. This one is still under construction and is expected to open in Spring/Summer, 2024. The 7 mile trail around the reservoir will be accesible by then.

Sometime in 2024- Seneca Creek Greenway Trails west of and north of Clopper Lake, MD. AllTrails shows 14.5 miles of this trail but it appears to extend further north just about to Damascus, MD. I read somewhere that the long range goal for this trail is to connect the Potomac and Patuxant Rivers.

No date set yet- Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve, Leesburg, VA. Back in 2020 a group of us hiked a 3 mile loop consisting of the Beaver Pond, Old Field, Old Log, Bankbarn and Greenway Trails. But this facility has over 20 miles of trails so there is more to explore here.

No date set yet- Fredericksburg, VA Quarry Area, west side. I explored the east side of this area in 2020. I now want to find a way to enter the west side of this area as well as do some hiking within it.

No dates set yet- VA & WV State Parks. I am part of the West Virginia State Parks Very Important Parks and Virginia State Parks Trailquest Programs. Therefore, I will be exploring trails within a number of these parks in the future.

MD & PA State Parks. One of my goals is to visit all state parks in these states.

No date set yet- Broad Run Trail between Rollins Ford RD and Dunbarton Community Center, Manassas, VA. This trail, when completed, will be about 13 miles long and will stretch from Rollins Ford RD to the confluence of Broad Run and Cedar Run at Doves Landing Park in Manassas, VA. I want to try bushwhacking between Rollins Ford RD and Dunbarton Community Center. It looks to be between 3 or 4 miles. It would be nice to stage a vehicle at either end. Any takers?
