This RV campout took place the weekend of March 20-22, 2026. It was sponsored by
and was hosted by Chris and Carol Moore.
Friday, March 20, 2026– Julie and I arroived at Bull Rin Regional Park near Centreville, VA around 12:45PM. We waited in the swimming pool parking lost as we didn’t want to get an early checkin charge. So we checked in at precisely 1:00 PM. We proceeded to site 118 and got all set up. We got all set up RV wise by about 2:30 PM and then just chilled for a bit. We ate dinner in the RV. We were support to have a group coookie get together at 7:00 PM but it started raining so it was canceled. The rain contunued on and off the rest of the evening. We slept soundly that night
Saturday, March 21, 2026– We had a group breakfast at 9:00. Julie contributed some of her fantastic home made granola along with TJ’s organic granola. Our wagonmaster Ray Michael gave a brief spiel about upcoming campouts. We then we spent the rest of the morning and afternoon mainly chilling out. I forgot a number of things this trip including various meds that I am taking as well as my hiking boots. Since the trails that I wanted to hike on were very wet, we opted to hike around the perimeter of the campground roads multiple times. The weather was perfect today. It was in the low to mid 60’s with low humidity. We tried to remain outside as much as possible.
We had a great group dinner at around 6:00 PM. Julie contributed a big salad. There were two other salads contributed by others as well but you can never have enough salads. Our hosts, the Moores, made chili and all the fixins to go along with it. It was very good. We had eight rigs show up for this campout. We also had members of this group show up just for the dinner. We had twenty people for the group dinner, a fantastic turnout. We then had a group campfire afterwards. The evening was cool but pleasant. Again we slept soundly that night.
Sunday, March 23, 2026– We had a leftover breakfast at 9:00AM, said our goodbyes and headed home around 10:30. We got home at around 11:15 and started unpacking. Below are my comments about this campground:
Pros: At $68 a night for a full hookup site (electric, water & sewer) this is one of the more reasonably priced campgrounds in the DC area. The staff was very friendly. Our site was nice, large and clean. Verizon cell service had two to three bars. Though I didn’t hike the white and yellow trails, I noticed that their trail maps had been updated and I saw fresh blazes on the white trail from far away.
Cons: Only 22 OTA TV channels received. I could not get local channels 4, 7 and 9. The site number signs are still too small to read from far away. The noise from the adjacent gun range made it sound like there was a war going on next door. And the restroom/showers closest to where we were camped was closed for repairs. We had to walk to the other end of this 150 site campground to use the facilities. No one told us about this during the online registration or when we were checking in.
Overall we had a nice weekend at Bull Run Regional Park near Centreville, VA. I’m giving it three stars:
