Friday, March 15, 2024- I arrived at Bull Run Regional Park near Centreville, VA around 11:45 AM. Had to pay a $10.00 extra fee for early checkin. I got our RV called The Breeze all set up, took a nap and just chilled. We had a small cherry blossom tree at our site. Only about twenty blossoms but it was very pretty. Julie showed up around 6:30 PM.

We then attended a group campfire at one of the other members sites. We had about twenty-five people and about a dozen rigs at this event. It started raining around 8:30PM so we had to retire early.

Saturday, March 16, 2024- Went to the group breakfast at around 8:30 AM. It was pot luck. We contributed some of Julie’s world famous granola as well as some yogurt. Around 10:00AM I led a 3.1 mile hike around the campground that included portions of the Bull Run-Occoquan, Bluebell and White Trails. We only saw a few Bluebells as we were still about 2-3 weeks from their peak bloom.

Backcountry Campground Camping Guide: top gear picks for sleeping under the stars

On Saturday night we had a group dinner and campfire. Again, it was pot luck. The theme was St. Patricks Day. The hosts served Cornbeef and Cabbage and we contributed boiled potatoes. It was all very good. We had some great conversations and didn’t get rained out.

Sunday, March 17, 2024- St. Patricks Day- We again had a group breakfast around 8:30 AM with leftovers, said our goodbyes, got packed up and went back home around 10:30 AM. This was a nice campground. I’ll give it 4 stars. Verizon cell service had 3-4 bars. I received 31 OTA TV channels on my 4.5 in portable TV using an amplified saucer antenna on a tripod.

Again, I wonder how long that we can keep RV camping. Our RV called The Breeze is now 18 years old. Julie is helping with the ongoing repairs to this rig. However, I know that it will not be road worthy much longer. Last year we lost a Potomac Dogwoods member that passed away and another one that had a blowout on the way home. There was so much damage to his 5th Wheel that they had to total it. He didn’t get much from insurance and couldn’t afford a new RV. So he came to a campout , rented a cabin and sold off a lot of his gear. Alas, I’ll keep doing this as long as my RV and myself can keep making it.
