Monday, October 7, 2024- Luckily, we got our RV called The Breeze fixed in time so we set out for
The 3.5 hour trip from Manassas, VA took about 4 hours due to traffic. I took breaks in Bowie, MD and Bridgeville, DE. Our RV called The Breeze did well on this trip. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge was a white knuckle ride. But we made it to the park around 4:00 PM. The weather was warm but the wind was chilly. We set up camp and chilled for the rest of the day. Various members of the Potomac Dogwoods showed up for various days so overall we had five rigs at this outing.
Tuesday, October 8, 2024- There was a .25 mile path to the Atlantic Ocean from the campground so we took it to Indian River Inlet Beach. We walked along the beach. The water was warm. I looked on a map and from where we were, Portugal and, specifically, Gibraltar, was about 2,507 miles directly across the Atlantic Ocean. We spent the afternoon walking around

Wednesday, October 9, 2024– We visited the campstore. It was OK. We next went to
but could not find the beach. I later read that this town is more well known for it’s night life. So we drove south to

Thursday, October 10, 2024- We went to
near Dagsboro, DE. Neat place and very relaxing. They had about 2 miles of trails. Most of the flowers there were past their blooming stages but we still managed to find some neat looking plants and flowers. We came back to the campground and just chilled the rest of the day.
Shop on VannCampFriday, October 11, 2024- We went to
and visited a country store. I had some pumpkin praline fudge. Man, it was good! Next we visited
and walked on the beach. Our campground car pass got us free access to all other Delaware State Parks. Later that afternoon, we walked a 1.3 mile lollypop loop trail on
on the other side of the Indian River Inlet. Julie didn’t like the bugs and the sand was tough to hike on. But we survived it. That evening we had a group dinner at
just south of the campground. It was expensive but very good.
Sunday, October 13, 2024- We packed up and hit the road around 10:00 AM. Traffic was good until we hit I495 in MD and I66 in VA. The trip was supposed to take 3 hours. We ended up taking 5 hours. We had a great time but it was nice to be back home. Here are the pros and cons of this campground:
Pros: All RV sites are full hookups; The price of a campsite here here is very good compared to other RV campgrounds; The mostly volunteer staff was very nice; The Charles W Cullen Memorial Bridge over the Indian River Inlet is very neat looking, especially at night; Verizon cell service was 5 bars and 5G; AT&T cell service was 2-3 bars; Though there is no cable TV available, I did receive around 40 OTA signals on our RV TV. There is a lot to do within a 20 mile radius of the campground. Thankfully, we had great weather while we were here
Cons: There are 275 campsites at the north and south campgrounds of this park. They pack you in tightly. There isn’t a lot of room at the RV sites; No hot water in the men’s room sinks. That makes shaving a challenge; The showers, while free, are push button activated. You initially get a blast of cold water that lasts about 15 seconds. You have to keep pushing the button every 15 seconds. The water gets warmer but never hot. So taking a shower is a challenge.
