A lot can and will change in the next year. But these are the tenative dates that I will be hiking, car camping, RV’ing, WV VIPP’ing and more. Again, these are subject to change:
Rivanna Trail between River & Coleman RDS and Barracks RD,
Charlottesville, VA, 6.5 miles, linear- This is the last section of this trail that I have to do in order to complete this 21.5 mile loop. I plan to park my vehicle at the shopping center at the intersection of Barracks and Emmit, then either call an Uber to take me to River & Coleman or get a shuttle. I would like to do this one in March or April, 2025.
Charlottesville, VA, ?? miles, linear & loop- Not all the trails there are built and/or open yet. I really would like to hike from this park along Biscuit Run to I64 but it appears that section is not open yet. So I will have to hike what is available now. Maybe in January or February, 2025?
Final WV VIPP Trip– I have to visit 3 more State Parks and 2 more state forests in order to send my VIPP card in and get $25. I’ll probably hit Pipestem, Cass Scenic RXR and Carnifex for the state parks and Seneca and Kumbrabow for the state forests. I’ll probably spend the night somewhere during this trip. Either a cheap motel, a campground , a cabin or a lodge in the order of least expensive to most expensive. I wouldn’t mind doing some hiking or backpacking on this trip as well. This one will happen in either May, June or July. They are supposed to be opening a new 100 site campground at
in August, 2025. Maybe I’ll wait until then to do the WV VIPP thing.
I will also do some day hikes this year with the
as well as the
Greater Prince William Trails Coalition.
My RV will be 20 years old in January, 2025. I’m not sure how many trips or how long that I will keep it for. I would like to do a couple RV campouts with
The Potomac Dogwoods Camping Club
but I’m not sure if that will happen or not.
My oldest son’s significant other approached me about camping in 2025. I assume that this would be car camping and that all their kids would be present. I’ll have to get more information. We could either do something close like
or something on Skyline Drive like
We’ll have to plan this one.
Charlottesville, VA, linear, 5 miles– This one is a maybe for late 2025. I’m not sure if you can place a vehicle at the north end of this trail or whether I will have to do some up & backs.. I’ll have to research this more.
Broad Run Trail, Prince William County, VA, about 4 miles. This is a bushwhack of the planned Broad Run Trail between Hunting Cove PL and Catbird DR.near Bristow, VA. If I can get anyone to stage a car and hike this one with me, that would be great. If not, I will have to do a series of Up & backs.
And I would like to do at least one hike with my cousin Ron Calabrese and my fellow Rag Tag Ranger Charlie Johnson in 2025.
And finally, I would like to do at least one fishing trip and one bicycling trip in 2025.
