Please patronize our advertisers. This RV campout ocurred on Tuesday, August 6 and Wednesday, August 7, 2024. It was just me on this trip.
According to my RV Journal this is the 11th time that I’ve RV camped here since 2012. This campground was closed in 2022 and 2023 for infrastructure repairs. I believe that they redid the water, electric and sewer lines. Other than the repaved roads and the new high pressure frost free water spikots, nothing else noticable has changed.
The sites are still configured like they were pre-2022. I asked the person in the office while checking in about group rates and if they could accomnodate a number of large rigs and have full hookups for those rigs. He said that they they didn’t have group rates and only have a small number of full hookup sites which are mostly occupied by full timers. So I guess that the Potomac Dogwoods Camping Club won’t be camping here. BTW, the full timer occupency rate at this campground looked to be about 25%.
I camped here the day before the remnants of hurricane Debby came through. It was very hot. It got up to 91 degrees. I was at site C7. I used Reflectix in all of the windows of my RV called The Breeze and had the AC on for about 20 hours straight. After 3 or 4 hours, I was able to get the temperature down so that it was 17 degrees cooler in my RV than it was outside. I mostly chilled on Tuesday, August 6th. I watched TV, surfed the web, read and ate. I slept soundly that night.

The next morning, Wednesday, August 9th, I got up early, took a walk around the campground, ate breakfast, packed up and left at around 9:30 AM. I was back home before 10:00 AM. Here are my pros and cons about this campground:
Pros: I paid less than $50 for a water and electric site; The staff was friendly; Verizon cell service had 4 bars; The repaved roads and new high pressure frost free water spikots were a nice improvement; Small bags of ice were only $4.00; No cable but I received 52 OTA TV channels.
Cons: No food available in the campstore; Why didn’t they make all sites full hookup since they were closed for 2 years; Still no air conditioning in the bathrooms; Their Wi-Fi is still lousy; Their
still looks like it was designed in the 1990’s, though they did remove the broken Flash images.
I wrote to the Superintendent of this park in 2022 and informed him of the website issues and the Wi-Fi. He wrote me back and said that these issues would be addressed during their then upcoming construction. They weren’t. I had an overall nice time while I was here, However, for the first time, I am giving this campground two stars.
