This RV campout occured between October 2-5, 2025. Julie R and I participated. This campout was sponsored by

The Potomac Dogwoods

and was hosted by Sandy and John Herring.

Thursday, October 2, 2025- We arrived at Cozy Acres Campground around 2:30 PM. We got site 24, which was at the right end of the second row of this park. This campground has about 110 sites. We had water, electric and sewer at our site. We didn’t do much that day. We set up camp, ate and just chilled the rest of the day. We took a walk around the campground just before it got dark. Like most campgrounds, this land was once a farm. And on a hill near the RV storage area we discoverd a few gravesites. One was for a woman who died in 1922 and the other was a headstone with the owners names on it. They hadn’t died yet so I assumed that this is where they wanted to be buryed when they did pass.

Friday, October 3, 2025- We ate breakfast in our RV, then set out to the nearest Food Lion to get some supplies. On the way back, we got a pizza at Angela’s Italian Restaurant in Powhatan. It was excellent. I bought a stick on oval for the campground to place on the rear bumper of our RV. However, I could not get the backing off. So I went back to the campground office and they gave me another one. That evening we had a nice group campfire.

Saturday, October 4, 2025- Again, we didn’t really do a lot on this trip. We couldn’t hike in the surrounding Powhattan WMA because hunting season was starting. So we drove to a local park called fighting Creek Park and walked a short loop on a series of trails. It was about a mile. We then went back to the campground and just chilled.

Later that evening, we went to a group dinner sponsored by our hosts. We ate potato soup and some wraps that Julie made among other things. Everything was good. That evening we again sat around the campfire and swapped stories. I believe that we ended up having seven rigs on this camping trip.

Saturday, October 5, 2025- We had a leftover group breakfast, then hit the road and went home. We got home at 1:30 PM. We watched the Commanders-Chargers game that evening. The Commanders won!

Here are some pros and cons for this campground:

Pros: Friendly staff, very clean and modern bathrooms, 33 OTA TV channels received, Verizon cell service 3-4 bars.

Cons: Wi-fi available only at the campstore/office, the bathrooms, though very nice and modern, had a shower drainage problem which caused shower water to pond in the bathroom.

Overall we had a nice time at this campground. We stayed here in 2020 and had an equally nice time. We even had the same site today as then. So I will again give this campground 4 stars:

★★★★
