In 2011 I wanted to write a distance calculator for the Mason-Dixon Trail in PA, MD and DE. However, because of the way that their web server was configured, I needed to create a distance calculator that gave the results on the same page that the distance points were on. Ary Rodriguez, a developer where I worked as a system administrator, told me that he could code a web form that could do that. So Ary wrote the JavaScript code, I added the data and the HTML component and the rest was history. We should have been doing real work at the time so mea culpa.

These web apps are best viewed in landscape mode on a mobile device. Also, something changed around 02/15/2026 on Google Chrome for Adroid. The listboxes for the various distance calculators were partially beyond the length of the screen. After much troubleshooting I discovered that the fix for this issue is to tap on the 3 dots to the right of the URL field, then scroll down to Desktop site and make sure that there is a check mark next to it. Doing so should fix this problem.
