The Potomac Dogwoods

and was hosted by Julie R and myself.

Thursday, April 25, 2024- We left Manassas, VA around 1:00 PM. Traffic was clown filled as usual. We arrived at around 3:00 PM, got checked in, got some propane, got all set up and just chilled for the rest of the day. There were only 2 other couples at this campout. They also checked in on Thursday. They were Bob and Sharon Walters and John and Sandy Herring. We had a campfire at our site and Bob joined us.

Friday, April 26, 2024- Had a leisurely morning, then went to Ellicott City, MD to check it out. Lots of antiques, gifts and history there. We toured the railroad museum, walked around and bought some stuff to help the town economy. We got some groceries. Then we got 2 bundles of free firewood because they were doing some work on the site that was next to us all day. They woke Julie up and later woke me while taking a nap. I think that was fair compensation. That evening we had a nice campfire at the Herring’s site. The Washington Capitals lost game 3 in their hockey playoff quest. Not good.

Saturday, April 27, 2024- We hosted the group breakfast. We had Jimmy Dean Sausage on a stick dipped in pancake batter, Egg, cheese and bacon muffins, mini Tennessee’s Pride sausage biscuits and Julie’s very popular granola recipe along with vanilla yogurt. I think that we fed everyone successfully. It started raining between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM so we just chilled in the RV during that time. I’m currently reading a biography about the late actress Hedy Lamarr. After the rain stopped, we took a short walk, then prepped for dinner. We served hamburgers and hot dogs which we cooked on our workbox grill. The Herrings and Walters brought side dishes. There was a band called Joint Venture Project playing at the campground pavillion. Bob and I went to check it out. The girls wanted to stay at the campsite. The band was pretty good. They played classic rock from groups like America and Creedence Clearwater Revival. We listened to 3 or 4 songs then went back to the campfire. We had a great fire and used up all the wood that we had by about 10:30 PM.

Sunday, April 29, 2024– Had a leftover breakfast at the Walters site, then packed up and went home. Even with the rain on Saturday, it was a nice weekend. Thanks to the Herrings and the Walters for the fantastic side dishes and their comraderie. Ramblin Pines is a nice campground that has all of the amenities. Verizon cell service was 4-5 bars. The cable TV had 72 channels and was very good quality. And the staff was friendly. I’ll give this campground 4 stars.
