Potomac Dogwoods chapter of the Good Sam Club.

Before I start I will give the pros and cons of this campground:

Pros: Many amenities, friendly staff, well stocked camp store.

Cons: Cable TV was fuzzy, only luke warm water in the mens room, too many negative signs.

This campground is owned by RAC or Recreational Adventures, Inc. This company is the largest KOA franchisee in the U.S. They also own a KOA in Millersville, MD and are the concessionaire for Prince William Forest RV Campground in Dumfries, VA.

Thursday, 10/12/2023- We left on a Thursday this time. Traffic was good on the I95 torture chamber. At least going southbound, which we were. There was a car fire on I95 near Woodbridge, VA going northbound. They had to close that roadway for a short period of time. As a result traffic was backed up for 31 miles from Woodbridge to Fredericksburg at mid day.

We arrived at around 12 noon at the KOA. It was only about 20% full at the time. We got settled in, rested a bit, walked around the campground and then went and got a pizza from a restaurant called Angela’s Italian in nearby Spottsylvania, VA. The Angela’s Super Special was fantastic. It was a warm night as it only got down to 58 degrees.

Friday, 10/13/2023- Lucky day! We ate breakfast, then drove a few miles away and hiked the 2.7 mile Ni River Salamandar Loop Trail. I hiked some of this trail about 8 years ago with my son John and grand daughter Jillian. However, Jillie was only two or three at the time and we didn’t want to go too far with her. Julie did very well on this one. We then came back to my RV called The Breeze, rested, ate dinner and went to a group campfire with the Potomac Dogwoods. There were six rigs in attenence for this campout.

$500 Hotel Cash Card for $10!

Saturday, 10/14/2023- We had a group breakfast at the campground meeting room. It was very good. Then the rains came and stuck around for about four hours. We then made a food run to the local Food Lion to get some stuff for the group dinner. We also checked out the “yard sale” of a member that was getting out of RV’ing and was selling off (or giving away) some of his equipment. I got about $70 worth of stuff for $25. We had the group dinner. The group campfire for the night lasted less than an hour as the rain returned and forced us into our rigs.

Sunday, 10/15/2023- We packed up and went home

We had a good weekend even with the rain. I’m giving this campground four stars. It’s still a fantastic place to stay with the exception of the items that I mentioned above.
