Time flies! It was 2 years ago today that I set up this site. I had left another hosting service and a different domain because of support issues and email issues. I didn’t get this site fully functional until the end of 2023. But now most things are working OK.
What does the future hold for mikecalabrese.com? I have one more year left on my contract with my present hosting service. My main goal is to not have to do as much maintenance to the site as I have been doing. I need to spend more time doing outdoors stuff for my physical and mental well being. With the extensive heat, rain and my health issues this year, this has been tough.
Will I renew this site after next year? I am 50/50 on that right now. I enjoy the technical aspects of maintaining this site. But keeping up with the ads has been a challenge. Keeping ads current, adding new advertisers and taking down ads for advertisers for various reasons has been a consumer of time. My current hosting provider Bluehost has been very good uptime wise. So I would recommend them.
I plan to scale down the amount of advertisers that I have on the site from close to 350 down to about 200 through attrition. That should make it easier to manage. The income from ads could always be better. But my main goal this year is to get outside more as I’m not getting any younger.
