Until Christmas
I’ve been involved in various facets of the Internet for over 30 years now. Whether it be for work or for fun, I’ve always enjoyed tinkering with web sites. One of the challenges with creating a web site for oneself, a business or a non-profit organization has always been how to monetize a web site. One of my goals when setting up personal web sites has always been to try to break even as far as paying for the site. If I was able to pay for it, that would justify it.
In the past I would do things like have ads on sites, charge a membership fee or just beg. And it worked rather well. But with the advent of social media it has become more difficult to break even, let alone make money on a web site. So, since Christmas is coming up, I would like to encourage (beg) the reader to help support this site as well as get your holiday gifts on this site this year. Here’s how you can help:
- Support the advertisers on this site. Throughout this site there are ad banners, text links and product placements. If a user clicks on one of these banners/ads/placements and buys something, I sometimes get a small commission. This money goes towards offsetting the cost of having this site. Even if you don’t buy anything, take a look at the advertiser’s site. The sales help the most. But even the clicks help.
- View my videos. I have made a number of videos about various outdoor products as well as places that I have hiked. I know that I am not the best presenter in the world. At least I don’t say “guys” a thousand times. If you click on the affiliate link below the video and buy something, again, I make a small commission. People that get millions of views on YouTube make a lot of money. I know that I’ll never get there. But I would like to get more likes and followers, please.
My YouTube Channel is located here.
- View my blog posts. Most of my blog posts are just random stuff. However, there are a few product evaluations that I have done via my blog as opposed to doing a product evaluation via Corel Video Studio Pro and You Tube. Videos take a lot of time to create. If I have a lot on my plate, I just do a product evaluation via my blog. It takes less time. So please check out some of the evaluations that I have done.
- Donate. At the bottom of most screens on this site is a yellowish Donate button. This allows the user to donate to my PayPal account. By the way, PayPal is also an advertiser on this site in the Miscellaneous area of my store if you don’t have a PayPal account yet. Any amount would help.
At this point in time (fall, 2024) I am half way through a three year contract with Blue Host. By the way, their service and up time has been very good. They are also one of my advertisers in the Software, Web Hosting area of my store. My initial 3 year contract cost about $270.00. When it renews in July, 2026, it will probably be around $156.00 for a year or $468.00 for 3 years. That’s a lot of money for a poor retiree. If I don’t get some additional income for this site between now and then, I may have to sunset this site.
So any help would be appreciated. Please use the
if you have any questions or suggestions.
